"Power Struggle" is a compelling story that gives audiences hope that grassroots activism can be effective at bringing about positive social change in the world.
Filmed over five years, this feature-length documentary portrays the heated political battle to close the Vermont Yankee nuclear power plant, located on the banks of the Connecticut River in southern Vermont. A special highlight is the involvement of Frances Crowe, a legendary activist for decades prior to hear death this summer at the age of 100.

Joining filmmaker Robbie Leppzer for a post-screening audience discussion about on-going local environmental justice organizing campaigns and the Green New Deal will be:

• Holyoke Mayor Alex Morse (who will speak during the dinner segment of the program between 6 – 7pm)
• Mary Jones, Sunrise Movement Western Mass
• Katie Talbot, Holyoke Organizer of Neighbor to Neighbor
• Syair Bey, Environmental Justice Organizer, Arise For Social Justice
• Elizabeth Caretti Ramírez, environmental justice activist, Sugar Shack Alliance

We will also be screening a 6-minute video, FROM COAL TO SOL, about the successful community organizing campaign in Holyoke to close the Mount Tom coal plant and convert it to a solar farm.

A special fundraising dinner in Judds's will happen before the screening hosted by This organization is dedicated to support local artists and cultural activities in Western Massachusetts.
